St. Petersburg Real Estate Market

The St. Petersburg housing stock is a fairly even mix of single-family homes and other properties such as condos, townhomes, and duplexes. There are plenty of opportunities for homebuyers at all price points across its best neighborhoods and best gated communities. If you have a specific home in mind, you can always work with one of St. Petersburg's most popular home builders.

Single-family homes typically start at around $200,000 in many affordable neighborhoods, or even less for homebuyers looking to renovate a fixer-upper. Finding a home in a low HOA fee neighborhood is another option for saving money. On the other hand, luxury homes in St. Petersburg's most expensive neighborhoods can reach values of over $10 million! The luxury real estate available here is sure to amaze interested homebuyers, featuring three to seven bedrooms, two to eight bathrooms, expansive lots, modern style, and high-end amenities and finishes. Many of St. Petersburg's most desirable homes are waterfront properties overlooking the sparkling waters of Tampa Bay.

Condos for sale in St. Petersburg usually begin in the low $100s, with units in the best condos often listing in the millions. Two million dollars to $3 million is not unusual for the most luxurious condos, such as in the Reflection condo building and the 400 Central skyscraper. Other condos list for even higher.

St. Petersburg townhomes often start in the mid-$300s, with the market tapering off at around $1.6 million. There are several townhome communities in or near the downtown neighborhood and in the nearby Grand Central district, among other neighborhoods throughout the city.

For those who want to live near the city but just outside of it, there are many excellent suburbs of St. Petersburg that also deserve a look. Alternatively, if you're interested in living in a walkable neighborhood with a lot of amenities, St. Petersburg has some great choices to consider.

St. Petersburg Community Amenities

St. Petersburg is known for having many top-tier museums, several of which are works of art in and of themselves. The geodesic Salvador Dalí Museum in the downtown neighborhood, the blooming kapok tree outside the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts, and the amethyst sculpture in front of the Chihuly Collection of glass artworks are just a few of the ways these museums heighten the beauty of the area.

Gardens and parks are also plentiful, such as the Sunken Gardens, a century-old garden with a butterfly house, wildlife shows, and thousands of beautiful tropical plants. One of the best parks, Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, allows residents to enjoy nature in a less curated setting and features walking trails, wildlife, picnic areas, and tram tours. Fort De Soto Park is an expansive beachfront park that includes five islands, a historical fort and museum, a dog beach, paved trails, waterfront camping areas, fishing areas, and other attractions.

Want to enjoy the waterfront? One of the best places to do so is St. Pete Pier, which is the location of Spa Beach and boasts outdoor concerts, bars, bistros, grills, splash pads, a marina, public artworks, and more.

Downtown St. Petersburg has plenty of shopping experiences. Many stores and dining spots feature unique twists, and many colorful murals decorate the area, especially the 600 Block of Central Avenue. There are art galleries, craft breweries, bicycle shops, nightlife destinations, and much more to explore.
